Day 01 : Arrival - Chennai (Madras)
You would arrive in Chennai. Our assiatant would greet and escort you to
your hotel. You can spend rest of the day recovering from your jetlag. You
can have your meal in the hall or get it in the room itself. Recreation
options like swimming pool, indoor games and bar are also available in the
hotel.
Day 02 : Chennai
Have delicious and nutritious breakfast and move ahead to tour one of the
Indian metropolitan cities. Chennai is the capital of the state of Tamil
Nadu. Fort St. George, constructed in 1653 by the British, presently houses
the State secretariat and the legislative assembly. St. Mary's Church is one
of the oldest churches in India. The High court building has not only an
interesting archaeological section but also a bronze gallery. It is supposed
to be the largest judicial building in the world after the Court Of England.
Not-to-miss is the Kapaleshwar temple, an ancient Shiva temple built in
typical Dravidian (south Indian) style. In close neighborhood of the temple
is St. Thomas Cathedral. World famous Chennai Beach and Ramchandran Park
also demand attention.
Day 03 : Mahabalipuram
Leave for Mahabalipuram, 60 km from Chennai, early in the morning. Visit
the historic monuments related to the Pallava dynasty. A UNESCO world
heritage site, it has monuments mostly rock-cut and monolithic. Most popular
monuments are monolithic chariots and cave temples. These structures are
excellent examples of Pallava art. Return to Chennai in evening.
Day 04 : Kanchipuram
Leave Chennai for Kanchipuram or Kanchi. Famous for its temples and silk
sarees, the place has plethora of big temples. Most notable among these is
Ekambaranatha Temple. Kanchipuram silk sarees are woven manually.
Kanchipuram is also the seat of the Kanchi matha of Hindu religion.
Day 05 : Madurai
Madurai has cultural heritage harking back to 2500 years. Meenakshi temple
of Madurai is one of India's cultural and architectural landmarks.
Day 06 : Rameshwaram
Rameshwaram is a holy city of Hindus held by the community in high regard.
The reigning deity is in the form of linga, phallic symbol of Lord
Shiva. It is also one of the jyotirlingas in India. The most magnificent
part of Rameshwaram temple is 1219 m pillared corridor
Return to Chennai in evening. You would be taken to your hotel where you
would be served delicious dinner. Then pack your bags and leave for the
airport for your onward journey.
