Architecture
Taj Mahal in India is a part of a complex. It sits on a platform with its
all four corners trancated. The central dome, flanked by domed chambers, is
58 metre in diametre. Four slender minarets are very graceful. Calligraphy
is done using precious gems like jasper and agate. The tomb is bedecked with
inlaid design of flowers. Passages from the Holy Quran have been chiselled.
Symmetry of architectural elements has been employed.
History of Taj Mahal
The Tajmahal in Agra was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of
his beloved wife Mumtaz. This is the reason it is called an 'elegy in
marble'. The mausoleum holds the graves of both Mumtaz and Shahjahan.
